Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know before you book. Still have questions? Call us.

How does GM Junk Removal price a job?+

Pricing is based on how much space your items take up in the truck, and you see the number before any work starts. Our crew walks the job with you, looks at everything going out, and gives you the full price on the spot. Labor, loading, hauling and disposal are all included in that number. The only thing that changes it is you deciding to add more to the pile once we are there.

Do I have to be home when the crew arrives?+

Someone needs to approve the price before the crew starts loading, but that person does not have to be you standing in the driveway. Plenty of customers approve over the phone after we send photos of the pile, which is common for estate cleanouts and rental turnovers handled from out of town. For curbside pickups where everything is already outside, we can often handle the whole job without anyone present.

How fast can you get here?+

Same-day slots are frequently available across Frederick County and Montgomery County, and the phone is answered 24 hours. How quickly we reach you depends on where you are and what is already on the schedule that day. Calls that come in early in the morning have the best chance of same-day service. If we cannot reach you today we will tell you the next real window rather than leaving you guessing.

What do you do with everything after you load it?+

Items in good shape are set aside and run to local donation centers when possible, and metal and electronics go to area recycling facilities where they are accepted. Donation pickup is part of what our trucks do, not an add-on. What genuinely cannot be reused or recycled goes to disposal. We will not tell you a broken particleboard dresser is going to a family who needs it.

Do you carry things out, or do I need to bring them to the curb?+

We carry it out. That is the point of hiring a crew instead of renting a container. Basement furniture, attic boxes, a treadmill on the second floor, appliances that need disconnecting first, all of it comes out with us. We protect floors and doorframes on the way. If you would rather stage everything at the curb yourself, we do curbside pickups too, and that usually costs less because it takes less time.

Are you licensed and insured?+

Yes. GM Junk Removal is licensed and insured, and the trucks carry USDOT 411993, which you can read off the door when the crew pulls up. That number is a real federal registration, not a badge on a website. If a property manager or HOA asks you for proof of insurance before we come out, call us and we will send it over.

Is there anything you will not take?+

We cannot take hazardous material. That means things like paint, solvents, motor oil, propane tanks, chemicals and asbestos, which have to go through a household hazardous waste program rather than a junk truck. Almost everything else in a house, garage, yard or job site is fair game. If you are unsure about a specific item, call and describe it before you book so nothing surprises either of us on the day.

What areas do you serve?+

We cover twenty five cities and communities across Frederick County and Montgomery County, Maryland. That includes Frederick, Ballenger Creek, Brunswick, Middletown, Mount Airy, Thurmont and Walkersville in the north, and Bethesda, Rockville, Potomac, Silver Spring, Germantown, Gaithersburg and Clarksburg to the south. If your address is near that footprint but not on the list, call and ask. We would rather tell you yes or no directly than have you guess from a map.
